Barron Joseph Orr of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification discusses Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN). LDN is all about shifting land management policies and practices to counterbalance the expected loss of productive land with the recovery of degraded areas.
Dr. Barron Joseph Orr is an Emeritus Professor from the University of Arizona, where he also served as a NASA Geospatial Extension Specialist. He was awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship for his work on bridging the divide between science and society. Since 2010 he has been involved in UNCCD monitoring and indicator development, was selected as an independent scientist serving on the Science-Policy Interface (SPI), and was the co-lead author of Pivotal Soil Carbon and the Scientific Conceptual Framework on LDN.
