La chercheuse pionnière Michelle Garneau explique l'importance de conserver les tourbières au Québec et au Canada, en reconnaissant leur rôle au niveau du stockage de carbone et leur capacité à atténuer les changements climatiques.

Michelle Garneau est la directrice de la Chaire de recherche sur la Dynamique des Écosystèmes Tourbeux et Changements Climatiques (DÉCLIQUE) de l’UQAM. En tant que professeure en biogéographie et en géomorphologie, son objectif est d’enseigner les notions relatives à l’environnement biophysique dans son ensemble afin que soient compris les liens indissociables qui existent entre les aspects biophysiques et humains dans le contexte notamment des changements climatiques et de leurs effets sur l’environnement naturel, l’utilisation du sol et les modes de vie des populations.

Présenté au Symposium Sols vivants le 15 octobre 2017. Organisé par Régénération Canada à l'Université Concordia à Montréal.
