James Whetung, founder of Black Duck Wild Rice, will be joining us for our 2020 Webinar Series. For 38 years now, James has been working to restore Manoomin (wild rice) to Rice Lake, home to the Curve Lake First Nation. In this webinar conversation, he will discuss the history and culture behind Manoomin, the disappearance and resurgence of the sacred plant, how restoring it helps bring life back to the lake’s ecosystem, as well as his journey of learning with elders about traditional gathering and processing.
