Beyond Sustainability: Economic Analysis of Regenerative Agriculture Transition in the Dairy Sector

Anne-Sophie Pelletier

Partner: University of Ottawa
Timeline: 2025–2027

Anne-Sophie Pelletier is conducting research at the University of Ottawa on the costs of transitioning to regenerative agriculture on dairy farms in Ontario and Manitoba. Her goal is to help understand how much producers end up having to pay to implement regenerative practices on their farm, as well as the financial benefits and return on investment farmers can get from making these changes.

This dairy- and producer-centered project will enable Regeneration Canada to refine its transition pathways and to better support and guide the producers involved in our dairy programs.

Regenerative agriculture strengthens economic resilience by reducing dependence on costly external inputs, improving soil productivity over time, and helping farms better withstand climate and market shocks.

About Anne-Sophie Pelletier: Anne-Sophie is pursuing a Master’s in Environmental Sustainability at the University of Ottawa, focusing on the economics of regenerative agriculture adoption in dairy farming.
