New technologies are essential to fulfilling our mission, enabling us to produce and deliver quality content to the widest possible audience, communicate with you in a personalized way, and provide you with a range of services. We know that you trust us to protect the personal information you share with us, and we consider respecting your privacy to be of the utmost importance. The purpose of this Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) is to inform you of our privacy practices.
1. Scope of the Policy
Regeneration Canada is committed to protecting the privacy of our users, visitors and partners on our two websites: https://regenerationcanada.org/en/ and https://livingsoilssymposium.ca/en/. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your information.
1.1 Your Consent
When you browse one of our websites or otherwise provide us with personal information (for example, by e-mail), we assume that (1) you accept the terms of this Policy and (2) you consent to our collection, use and disclosure of your information per this Policy.
1.2 Policy updates
We reserve the right to update this Policy, for example, to adapt it to new laws or regulations or to provide you with information on new sites. We therefore advise you to consult this Policy regularly.
If you continue to browse our sites or provide us with personal information in any other way, we will assume that you accept these updates. If you object, you must stop using our Sites.

2. Collected data
2.1 Data collected automatically
We use technologies such as cookies and Google Analytics to automatically collect data when you visit our sites. This data includes:
- IP address (numerical address that can be used to precisely locate a computer connected to the Internet, e.g. 123.45.67.890)
- The type of device (e.g. smartphone, computer or tablet), operating system (e.g. Windows, macOS or Linux) and browser (e.g. Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari or Mozilla Firefox) you are using.
- The pages you visit, the date and time you access them, the time you spend on our sites and the actions you perform (e.g. clicks, form submissions).
- The address of the referring site, if you access our Sites from another website.
This information enables us to analyze traffic on our sites, improve the user experience and measure the impact of our campaigns.
This automatically transmitted data does not allow us to know your identity. It is collected because of the technological requirements inherent in Internet browsing (so that our servers can send you a file compatible with the computer equipment you are using) and for statistical purposes. They are used to count the number of visits and to identify the most frequently visited pages, the technology used by visitors, the addresses of referring sites and the country of origin of visitors.
2.2 Data collected non-automatically
We collect personal information when you perform certain actions on our Sites. Here is a list of the data we collect:

We may also collect this data when you contact us in person (for example, when you sign a petition on the street or participate in a kiosk or contest), by telephone or by e-mail.
2.3 Use of personal information
The information collected is used to:
- Provide you with the services and information you have requested.
- Manage the farm map, by contacting you to validate or update the information provided.
- Analyze the traffic on our websites and improve their operation.
- Conduct awareness campaigns or inform you about our activities and events.
We do not share your personal information with third parties, except as necessary to provide our services (e.g. secure registration platforms, event partners) or as required by law.
2.4 Data collected from third parties
With your consent, some of our partners may share your personal information with us. This enables us to keep in touch with you when you participate in a partner’s projects. Your consent takes the form of a checkbox accompanied by text similar to the following:
“I consent to receive more information from Regeneration Canada. I authorize [Partner] to share my contact information. You may unsubscribe from this list at any time. [Instructions to obtain more information and/or to unsubscribe].”
Also, we may use other third parties to collect data about you. These third parties may include but are not limited to, (1) software tools we use to create forms (e.g., registration forms, surveys and petitions) or host webinars (2) ticketing companies to register for our events (3) targeting tools (such as those provided by Canada Post). These third parties process your personal information according to their own policies.
Regeneration Canada does not purchase contact lists from third parties.
2.5 Cookies
Our sites use cookies to :
- Improve your browsing experience by remembering your preferences.
- Analyze the audience with tools such as Google Analytics and Meta Pixel (Facebook).
- Facilitate event registration or form submission.
You can disable cookies at any time via your browser settings. However, some features of our sites may not function properly if cookies are disabled.
If you use a computer in a public place or share a computer with other users, delete your browsing history before ending each session.
2.6 Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics tool.
Google Analytics uses “cookies” to collect information about your use of our website, which is stored on servers located in the United States. Google may share this information with third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the data on Google’s behalf.
The information collected by the tool includes, for example, the pages you visit, the date, time, duration and frequency of your visits, and the links you click on. The type and language of your computer’s operating system, the name of your Internet service provider and your geographical location (region) are also part of the information collected. Your IP address is also collected, but anonymized (truncated) to ensure the confidentiality of your information. Anonymizing an IP address prevents the identity of an Internet user from being known through it.
Google only uses the information collected to produce statistics and reports on navigation on our Sites, which enables us to improve our services.
If you wish, you can prevent Google from recording information about your browsing by installing the Google Analytics deactivation add-on on your computer.
2.7 Meta Pixel (Facebook)
Our website uses the Meta Pixel, an analytics tool provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. (the parent company of Facebook). The Meta Pixel allows us to track actions taken by visitors on our website, helping us understand how the site is used and improve our content as well as our outreach and engagement campaigns
The Meta Pixel collects anonymous information such as the URL of visited pages, actions taken on the site (such as viewing specific pages or submitting forms), and details about the type of browser and device used. This tracking also helps us measure the effectiveness of our online communication campaigns on Meta platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram.
Users can limit or disable pixel tracking by adjusting their cookie preferences or by accessing the privacy settings on Facebook.
By using our website, you consent to the use of the Meta Pixel as described in this section. For more information on Meta’s privacy practices and to learn more about your options for controlling your information, please refer to Meta’s privacy policy
3. Use of collected data
3.1 General information
The information we collect is necessary for us to carry out our mission. In particular, we use it to:
- Keep a record of your interests;
- Communicate relevant news, promotions and updates to you (by telephone, post or e-mail);
- Process membership applications;
- Process online transactions or donations;
- Provide invoices and receipts;
- Provide you with services, if you request them;
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative studies and research;
- Improve our Sites, our services and your experience;
- To provide certain information to business partners;
- For regulatory compliance purposes.
We fully respect your right to control your personal information. Please contact us immediately if you wish us to stop using your information for any purpose. To do so, please see “Your rights”. We will comply with your request as quickly as possible.
Note – We may not be able to provide you with certain services without your specific personal information. For example, we may not be able to send you our newsletter if we do not have your e-mail address.
3.2 Our e-mails
Regeneration Canada complies with the requirements of the Canadian Anti-Spam Act (CASL).
We will only contact you if you wish to be contacted. If you have not subscribed to our newsletters, you should not receive any communication from us. If you wish to unsubscribe from a newsletter, simply click on the link provided. This link is usually located at the bottom of the newsletter.
If you continue to receive our newsletters after unsubscribing, please let us know by contacting the contact person indicated in the “Your rights” section.
However, you may continue to receive communications from us in the following cases:
- You are a member and we need to contact you about the Annual General Meeting;
- You are a donor and we need to contact you about your donation or send you a tax receipt;
- You’ve registered for an event (for example, a webinar or a kiosk) and we need to contact you to organize it, ensure its smooth running or find out about your satisfaction;
- You have purchased a service or product and we need to send you an invoice or know how satisfied you are;
- You have entered a contest or signed a petition and we need to contact you to announce the results.
3.3 Aggregated data
In some cases, we will aggregate your data with that of others to take stock of our projects. For example, we may be able to say 214 people participated in an event in Montreal and look at demographic trends in our customer base.
3.4 Transfer of data abroad
We use third parties to store the personal information we collect. The servers of these third parties are sometimes located in the United States. By using our Sites, you authorize us to store your personal information in the United States. Please see the following section for our security measures.
4. Protection of personal information
4.1 Our security measures
We take precautions to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss or modification. These measures include :
- Access approval
- Protected access to servers and computers
- Encryption of sensitive data.
- Firewalls and other system security technologies.
- Strict limitation of access to your data
- Regular updating of security measures
However, no data transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is totally secure. We do our best to protect your information, but cannot guarantee absolute security.
4.2 Protection of financial information
Certain financial information will be requested if you make a payment or donation by credit card. This information is processed by a third party through a secure PCI-compliant gateway to process the credit card payment. Regeneration Canada does not store your credit card information digitally.
4.3 Your security measures
As a user of our Sites, you are also responsible for the security of your personal information. Among other things, you should ensure the security of the computer and network you use to transmit your personal information to us and use unique and confidential passwords.
External links – Our Sites contain links to other resources published on external sites operated by third parties. This Policy does not govern those external sites. We have no control over their privacy policies and practices. We invite you to carefully read the privacy policy of each website you visit.
5. Disclosure of data collected
5.1 Employees
We may disclose to any Regeneration Canada employee such personal information as is reasonably necessary to carry out the purposes set out in this policy.
5.2 Partners
With your consent, we will share the personal information you provide to us with certain of our partners. This will enable them to keep in touch with you when you participate in a joint project (*). Your consent takes the form of a checkbox with text similar to the following:
“I consent to receive further information from [Partner]. I authorize Regeneration Canada to share my contact information. You may unsubscribe from this list at any time. [Instructions to obtain more information and/or to unsubscribe].”
(*) For example, we may jointly organize and promote an event.
5.3. Third parties
We may share certain information with the third parties listed in the “Use of Third Parties” section. Third parties will not be able to access user data beyond what is reasonably necessary to achieve the given purpose.
5.3. Other provisions
We undertake not to sell or disclose your personal information without your express consent, except in the following cases:
- Legal or judicial requirement;
- To prove or protect our legal rights;
- In the event of partial or total transfer of our activities to a third party.

(*) Note – Canada Revenue Agency regulations require us to keep records of donations and prohibit us from removing this information from our internal records, even if you request it.
